Year 33 - Week 40

Yes, I have fallen off of the catching up band wagon.
If I post my thoughts from my brain, you would have a blog overload. MANY thoughts and things rolling around this brain of mine. Hopefully some of them will make it to this place!

Week of August 4-10, 2015

Day 1 - Pool day with the fam!

Too much excitement for this little tiny.

Mom - the tannest one of them all.
Sure do love hanging out with these people. I know Ben was devastated to have missed being in the sun! :)  And we missed Aunt Abby and her awesome swimming skills!

Day 2 - I came home, unpacked, and discovered this little beast.
Hannah and I somewhere MANY years ago found this kid's toy in a meal somewhere. It has become something we constantly trade back and forth with one another.
In the past few years, I have successfully been able to keep it in her safekeeping.
Alas, no longer. I am working on a return plan for this bit o' plastic to return home to Nashville.

Going back to my office this day, I saw my newest pictures and missed these people!
Morg - that picture of us with "Inside Out", still making me laugh.

BIG DAY!!! I went and picked up the keys to my new apartment AND had a letter already waiting for me!
More posts to come on the new place.

Day 3 - Team lunch at Cedars.
This place and food is amazing!

Day 4 - BBQ at a gas station/restaurant.
Deep conversation about the Holy Spirit.
Outlet mall shopping. We basically became personal shoppers for so many ladies in one store.
They were coming out of their dressing rooms to ask our opinions about their clothes because we were having so much fun! I was running and getting sizes for people too!

Day 5 - I failed this day to take a photo of my shopping excursion with Luke and Abster.
However, y'all. What is this?
Capri denims with elastic waists?
I don't know.

Favorite purchase of the day - this cool chair! It has a hymnal rack in the back and I LOVE this chair! It is so cute!

Day 6 - Went to church with this lady since I wasn't teaching Sunday school.
Followed it up with brunch and more conversation!

Day 7 - When your brother is your favorite go-to handy man!
I could not figure out how to put in the different drill bit. Yes, I know how to do it on my little drill, but he has a fancy man-drill.
We finally decided to use the modern technology available to us and Facetime so he could show me how to do it.
Guess what? The visual tutorial worked.
Thanks, buddy!

Week 33 - Week 39

Warning - this post has a LOT of photos.
Why? Because there was no way to choose only one for each day. This is what happens when you travel.

Day 1 - Bananas - I can rarely eat this fruit in the states.
It's hard to describe how amazing bananas are when they are truly ripe and eaten soon after picked. So amazingly delicious!

Spending the week with this lady - one of the highlights of the year.
So love Amber, her wisdom, her laughter, and her spunk.
So thankful for our friendship!

Music. Singing these songs in Spanish all week brought back so many memories of days gone by, but in a whole new setting.
So much fun and a complete joy to worship with these little ones!
Also, so loved that Lena helped us out! Such a sweetie!

Morgan rocking the bathroom door holding job! Thanks, girl!

Day 2 - Sergio: this kid and this face. "What is this crazy gringa doing???"
Adorable and so wanted to bring him home!

The amazing people of the church made incredible lunches for us each day.
This day was a bar-b-que with amazing meat: beef, pork, and chorizo. Yes, please!

Painting nails. Loved watching these girls sit so still and wait for their nails to be painted.

These sweet guy was helpful everyday, willing to serve and help however needed.

Day 3 - One of the highlights of being in Paraguay was some time away with Jesus. Each morning felt like a retreat with Him.
Our team spent time alone each morning in I Peter and then gathered together for sharing, music, and prayer. Treasured moments.

Sightseeing day with the Paraguayan flag behind.

Day 4 - Amber trying to throw away the orange juice container in the tiny trashcan.

TJ being himself.

Driving in Panama! Just like old times.
Yes, I did use the horn. Loved it!

Sweet Lisa came to the canal to see us for the short time we were there - so kind!

Surreal - the word Amber and I kept using about being in Panama.
Familiar, yet so much has changed in our lives.
Love seeing what the Lord has done.

Project airport - enough said. Aves - so missed seeing you. So close. :(

Day 5 - Made it to Nashville.
We went through the carwash and Char covered her ears the whole time.
When it was over, she asked to go through again. That girl!

We got to have dinner with this girl and Nick!
I haven't seen Jess in YEARS! So fun to catch up!

Day 6 - Family dinner!
Huge gathering of dear friends - the Kirkpatricks, McDougalds, and Hydes at the Clark's house.
The laughter that night - y'all, cannot even explain.

Also, when did this girl grow up?????? Makes me feel so old.
I remember skiing with her when she was tiny and Hannah and I would hold her and Allie-bear.

Day 7 - Pappy reading to Char-Belle.
Love this. She is kind of obsessed with the "Curious George Goes to the Hospital" book.

Starbucks with sister - a summertime tradition.
We love us some Starbucks shaken teas. Love spending time with her. Hannah is one amazing lady!

Year 33 - Week 38

Hard to believe summer is nearly over, though summer is very different no longer following a school calendar.

Week of July 21-27

Day 1 - Morgan came to work with me all week. This was her observation of office work "I love shredding things. It makes me realize how many hours are in a day."
We started this day at Krispy Kreme.

Morg and I were on a project to put together a super fun package for Roo.
This photo makes me laugh so hard! We waited a LONG time for the rotating pictures outside of Disney to have Sadness come back up. We were trying t imitate her, with the hand included. HILARIOUS!

I told Morgan no to these shoes. I said, "Girl, you are not fighting lions in the arena."

Day 2 - Volleyball night. Again.
Morg did awesome - of course.
Super fun times!

We raced back to be a part of the last Paraguay meeting, which was so great.
Gotta love technology.

Day 3 - Breakfast with Luke and Abster.
Sure do love these people.

Day 4 - Sonic Happy Hour - yes!
And lots of loud country music singing!
And laughter.

This corridor at O'Hare.
Anyone? What does this remind you of?
I sent this photo as a text and instantly the movie quotes began pouring in from my family.
Home Alone - the original.

Morgan and I had practical jokes waiting in the hotel room.
"Someone" had set this up on one of the beds.

Day 5 - This photo did not turn out awesome, but we made it to Paraguay!

Day 6 - This photo still amazes me how the Lord brings people together.
I met this sweet lady many years ago at a conference in the Dominican Republic.
We realized this having lunch at her house in Paraguay. So fun!

Day 7 - Most of the Paraguay pictures for the daily blog will be ones you may have seen before if you were following the Paraguay blog.
This is one of my favorites - the thermos of mate (hot tea).
I should go make some.

And this little guy - wanted to bring him home.

Paraguay stole a piece of my heart.

Year 33 - Week 37

Week of July 14 - 20.

So it's back to catching up after returning from Paraguay. If you want to read all of the thoughts from Paraguay, you can check them out at: So so grateful to have been able to go on the trip and honored to have been able to tell our story while we were there.

Anywhoo. Back to catching up.

Day 1 - Cow Appreciation Day = Office field trip!
We are HUGE Chickfila Fans - especially of the one on Northwest Hwy/Lake Highlands.
Good people.

While most of our crew wore the regular "Eat mor chikin" signs, I made my own.

Day 2 - I sent Jen a letter and I was pretty stinking proud of my drawing. I am a horrible drawer of the states, especially Texas, but I felt pretty impressed that they looked somewhat decipherable.

Day 3 - I was pet-sitting this week and used the guest bathroom during one of my visits. I wasn't sure what to use - the fancy monogrammed, linen hand towels, or the fancy monogrammed, ultra-thick napkins. Clearly, I'm not fancy.

Day 4 - IF TABLE!
Seriously, one of my favorite moments of each month.
This month - our group exploded. Look at all of these woman!
Cannot tell you how blessed my heart was. I so wish you could have listened in on what the Lord is doing in the lives of women.
AND y'all, there are women who are coming or being invited to this who are need of Jesus. Would you pray with us?
So many of these woman are inviting their friends to come, eat dinner with us, and hear of what Jesus can do in a transformed heart. It's real life being lived with one another.

Day 5 - Suce went furniture browsing with me, which included a journey to Weirs.
So we got some popcorn and glass bottled cokes. I love that store.

This photo is the night we said "see you later" in Panama.
Many tears that night.

Fast forward two years and here she is!
All grown up. Love this home girl!
Cannot tell you how sweet our time together was.

Day 7 - Business meeting with my brother! WHAT?
Is this real life?

This night. Y'all.
Tears springing to my eyes.
Morgan and I met Michael in Canton to have dinner and catch up.
LOVED hearing how the Lord is continuing to grow this man and use Him for the kingdom.
One of those moments I bottled up all the moments as sweetness. Grateful for the time we could spend together - but we were missing Aves and AJ.

And always love watching him and Morgan hang out. Siblings are the best!
